“I'll never forget the first time I met Kateena
LeForge. I knew she was a Christian recording artist, but
I had never heard her sing. A pretty girl, she was
soft-spoken. Her gentle spirit and humble attitude
impressed me. Working together on a special project, I
observed her genuine commitment to the Lord and strong
belief in the power of prayer.
The first time I heard this genteel creature sing, she
belted out "How Great Thou Art" with great passion. I was
amazed at the power of her voice. As she continued, I was
even more astonished at the beauty and versatility of her
voice. God has given her an incredible gift to sing in a
wide variety of styles. Traveling with Kateena, I've
observed that wherever she ministers, the anointing that
flows through her performance inspires audiences to
worship the Lord, our God.
Kateena could be a singing sensation in the secular
arena. I'm glad she has chosen instead to dedicate her
talent for the glory of the Lord.”

Biographical Information
De Soto, a small Southern Illinois community near the Mississippi River, boasts itself in being the home of one of the most powerful voices in gospel music. The daughter of a coal miner, Kateena LeForge’s natural love for singing is matched only by her talent to move and impact an audience with her emotive style.
Kateena’s heart was born to sing. At the age of three she told her grandma one day she would be on stage. She was right. Nine years later, Kateena made her first public appearance at the First Pentecostal Church of Murphysboro, Illinois, singing with her friend JoLynn. Her friend had to talk her into making the debut, but it did not take long for Kateena’s versatile voice to feel at home behind the microphone.

At the young age of 15 Kateena opened for the Hemphills, a nationally acclaimed gospel group. She has also sung by request for key political figures, including former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, former Illinois governors Jim Edgar and Jim Thompson, former U.S. congressman Glenn Poshard, and the current governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojovich.

She currently travels internationally with Three Angels Broadcasting Network, sharing the stage with her friend and mentor Allison Durham-Speer. The mother of two children has also sung for Tri-State Christian television, and her God-given and trained musical talent has taken her around the world. When Kateena’s not traveling, she is singing regulary in her church, the First Baptist Church of De Soto.
Kateena has the uncommon ability to allow her audience to feel what she is feeling. She is able to take her audience beyond what they can hear with their ears and lead them to an experience that can only be comprehended with the heart. “I want to communicate the words and emotion of God and take them to the place where the song is. If I’m singing about the cross, I want them to feel it, make them feel like they are there.”
Kateena’s latest project, entitled I Love the Lord, does just that. It takes you from your living room or car and into the presence of God, making it seem like you can almost feel the hand of God gently holding yours.
The CD reveals Kateena’s versatility. Her voice reaches the heights found in How Great Thou Art and it is still able to settle into the calm and serene valleys of a song like He’s Just as Real to Me.
A sense of peace lingers over an audience when Kateena sings. “She will touch you in a way that the peace will stay with you long after the service has ended,” pastor Darrell Neatherly said.
Peace is something Kateena has learned to feel and it is something her life conveys. “I feel my life’s message is to be anxious for nothing. I just want to bring the gospel to people and comfort the audience through the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
